the little bookish

I fancy reading, good books and hot tea.

The F- It List

The F- It List - Julie Halpern Thought I want to try this but decided not to after I read the first paragraph.

The only thing worse than having my best friend sleep with my boyfriend the night of my father's funeral would be if she killed my dad herself.

Cheating. Huh. You know what? Bye.

Bound (Eternal Guardians)

Bound - Elisabeth Naughton 4 stars

I liked Natasa. She's deadly.
I liked Titus too. He's a damaged guy.
I even liked Hades and his wicked ways.
I also liked his son Zagreus because there's something him that attracts me.
And Lachesis of course.

Didn't know what happened but I didn't feel the connection between H/h.
Not going to love the 'twisted' relationship between H/h from now on.
Definitely hated the almost love triangle.

That's all. Read on your own peril.

Enslaved: Eternal Guardians series

Enslaved - Elisabeth Naughton 4 stars

Loved the plot.
Loved that she-devil finally dead.
Loved Gryphon.

Disliked the romance.
Disliked Maelea.
Disliked Max.

Anyway, Eternal Guardians' still an amazing series.
......

Off me to next book: Titus and Natasa's.

Enraptured (Eternal Guardians)

Enraptured - Elisabeth Naughton 5 stars

Just great.

It started out really slow at first and I had a hard time to grasp with the story, at the point I was worried this book might not be my favourite in the series. Well, I was wrong and I'm glad I enjoyed it immensely.

Skyla would be on top of my favourite heroine in this series. She's an assassin, a fighter, and feisty. Yet have a loving and tender heart. Definitely my kind of girl. There's a scene involving her that tugged my heart I was close to cry and curse oh shit is this going to be a happily never after, no!. Yes, I was scared shit for her. For Orpheus. For both of them. Pardon me the continuous usage of shit word.

Next best thing in this book would be their journey to the Underworld. It was fascinating although it wasn't as thrilling as I was expecting and it was suffice enough because other scenes weren't lack thereof.

My observation from beginning until now is that I conclude that the Fate is three old meddle and romantic hags. They're so funny alright. They clearly enjoy this Hera soulmate curse (or blessing in Argonauts' case) thing.

Next book will be about Gryphon and Maelea. To be honest, I'm not sure about these two. Not sure if I want to put high expectation on the next book. One is far-too-cry-out damaged soul and broken. One is too dark and spineless. Will there be any excitement? Should I prepare for emotionally drained? I guess so.

Love's Suicide

Love's Suicide - Jennifer Foor Love triangles. Ugh. Bye.

Dominic (Slater Brothers, #1)

Dominic (Slater Brothers, #1) - L.A. Casey Read the annoying "Reader's Note" and I decided I wasn't for the book. Too bad the cover's HOT.

Tempted (Eternal Guardians, #3)

Tempted - Elisabeth Naughton 5 stars

Goodness can I have my own Demetrius?

This book was effing fantastic! I loved the plot, the main and secondary characters, the side stories, the romance, the combat scenes and the gore. Just amazing, really.

Whilst I was reading, I was surprise Isadora has a lot of admirers. Especially the guys, regardless either they're good or evil. I counted five who wish for her and of course, Demetrius won her heart. And my heart broke for one of them too. I hope what he expected was the false one and someday he found the true one. Please Ms. Naughton grant my wish and give me/us Nick's story! All Argonauts, too? Please?

To Book 4 now. Recommended.

Entwined (Eternal Guardians)

Entwined - Elisabeth Naughton 5 stars

LOVVVIT! It seems now the story gets BETTER! As usual, I enjoyed the combat and some gory scenes. The plot was intriguing. Compared with previous, this book has a couple of steamy scenes which was scorching hot *fanself*. Besides, here's a scene that was heartbreaking I wanted to cry. Talk about intense. Everything was superb intense just prepared emotionally if you are intend to seriously indulge in Entwined.

My one big puzzle is Max was raised and grew up under Atalanta's thumb. Though he's okay physically and finally embraced his humanity, what about his emotional and mental though? I bet he's damaged inside. Even small part of it. I just want to know. So Ms. Naughton, I just hope you give Max's his own book well of course after he becomes a man some day.

My pet peeve for this book is I am so not impressed with the ending.

Off to Book 3 because it's Demetrius and Isadora. Yay! These two hate each other but the chemistry between them was sizzling hot. Recommended.

Marked (Eternal Guardians)

Marked - Elisabeth Naughton 5 stars

This book is underrated.

Since I'm perhaps the minority one (well, I always am in that category) who love this book, hereby I to say that this book is FANTASTIC.

Why?

Full of action-packed, and some wicked, gory scenes. Ah, perfect for my current mode to read suspense, thriller books.

I loved the mythology. It's similar (not rip-off) to LOTU series that I love so much.

The heroine was awesome and feisty!

Sexy, strong and gentle hero too.

And promising of more sexy Argonaut hunkies once I go through the series. *evil grin*

I just don't understand the low rating though. Probably because of a little sex scenes, too much sexual tension and the constant back-and-pull between the lovebirds, I guess? Maybe because of other reasons as well? -- Anyway, I didn't bother with the lacking of those as long as I enjoyed reading Marked.

Book 2, here me comesss! Recommended.

Eternal Rider (Lords of Deliverance)

Eternal Rider - Larissa Ione 4 stars

This book was fantastic!!! Definitely satiate my crave for excitement (see below).

Action pack - check
Violence and gruesome gore - check

Things that I disliked.
1. Limos. I found she's annoying.
2. Why didn't Ares say it back!? After all the cray yay drama llama. (Those who have read this book know what I'm talking about).
3. How I wish Ares actually plunged the 'lethal' dagger into Cara's heart and I bet things would be lot more interesting. Yep, I'm so not happy with the outcome. It's too...lame.

......

I actually like reading the story related to Four Horsemen of Apocalypse, even in Revelation too. Hence, I landed on this and I intend to find other series with similar theme.

Recommended.

The Warlord Wants Forever (Immortals After Dark, #1)

The Warlord Wants Forever - Kresley Cole 2 stars

I was curious why most of readers liked/loved this book and so I picked it.

I liked the match between Valkyrie and Vampire. That is something to me. Something new. I was intrigued to know exactly how would the two worlds collide together. Also, I liked the scorching hot scenes.

BUT I didn't get enough glimpse of the myth, the world. I didn't understand most of it. I didn't feel connected with main characters and more annoyed with them. There was no true plot and I was bored to death it was a torture to finish. Just my luck it was a short book and I'm thankful.

I was to rate this book 1 star. It was that bad but I added another because I really liked the combat scenes at the near ending of the book. Short of excitement but it sufficed anyway. As to am I going to continue with this series? Well, I will think about it.

Singed (Titanium Security Series)

Singed - Kaylea Cross 3 stars

Spoilers Alert.

I could give this 4 stars but refused to because compared to previous book (Ignited), it was all about Gage and Claire rekindling their love for each other. The romance was great but it was the excitement I was looking for. I thought I would get the-next-action-pack in this book and I did but I got only a tiny bit. It wasn't enough. I wanted more.

The second chance love story - the first thing that popped in my mind was "Gage is going to reconcile with his ex? That's amazing!" And I thought Claire was the ex and found out later she wasn't. Bummer. Clearly I didn't pay attention to these two back in the previous book. But hey, there's no harm for hoping second chance in sacred foundation of marriage!

My hunger for thriller military suspense isn't going to stop here. Hell I just started I wasn't to give up. Two books by far failed to satiate the crave and I will move on the next book, hoping for combat explosion violence scenes. Pretty please.

Invincible (The Trident Code)

Invincible - Alana Albertson 3 stars

This is an honest review and may contain spoilers. You've been warned.

To be honest, for an amazing blurb, the book was somewhat a disappointment to me. It could be a wonderful read if it weren't for the story was too short, too rush and a lot of unanswered questions and unsolved puzzles. The connection between Patrick and Annie didn't reach out. It was there but dull. Hence, I didn't enjoy the romance. However, it had a great beginning. I was hooked.

My opinion on the characters is sadly to say I read them and got to know them but I'm still clueless about them. No complex development. Blame it on the fast paced, the rush of the story. How badly I wish it were another way around. I could love this book. Too bad, though.

Another thing that didn't reach to my satisfaction is the excitement. I was expecting to get intense suspense action pack because the blurb was sure sounded like one so. Apparently, it wasn't. I did get some action but it wasn't enough. It wasn't thrilling even and the rescue was so easy I didn't believe it. It didn't make sense.

Surprisingly, I loved the writing. It was captivating. It's the reason I didn't give this up and chose to stick until the end. IMO, this author is good and I will keep tabs on her. I hope her next book in the series will be way much better.

Beyond Me (Sex on the Beach)

Beyond Me (Sex on the Beach) - Jennifer Probst 3 stars

Sweet love story and it was a good read. The description of hero reminded me of someone I met a few years back. I didn't know him and his name but his face. Jet black hair and strikingly blue eyes. Anyway, I love Jennifer Probst's books especially her Marriage to Billionaire series - too bad the series's ended.

Hold On To Me (Against All Odds Series #2)

Hold on to Me - Elisabeth Naughton 3 stars

I loved previous book in the series but I couldn't say the same for this book. I loved Mitch and I felt bad for him during entire reading. I disliked Simone a lot. She was very annoying. Their pull and push relationship was tiring to read. A little bit of excitement (I was looking for full blast of thrilling action pack) and hot romance I enjoyed less didn't do well for me. I liked the relationship between Mitch and Shannon. It was nice Kate and Ryan made appearances too. I missed them. Anyway, it was a good read and I intend to read the next in series only if there's any continuation.

Poisoned Web (The Deizian Empire) (Volume 2)

Poisoned Web - Crista McHugh 3 stars

This was a good read but it wasn't as good as the first book and that was kind of understatement. Izana may bold as she claimed but too bad she wasn't as deadly as Azurha. Also, I didn't impress with the instant attraction between Izana and Modius. Modius' being intelligent was very appealing and I was interesting with his passion. Looking forward to Book 3? Hell yeah! Kena tunggu rakan lanun untuk supply Book 3 la LOL
