Burn (The Breathless Trilogy)

Burn (The Breathless Trilogy #3) - Maya Banks 3 stars

You see... before I started reading this book, I was so excited about it and I couldn't wait to devour Burn because it's Ash's story. And I loved Ash! He is an easy-going kind of man for the outside but he's actually on the other way around from the inside. Hence, my attraction to him.

After I started reading, I was so disappointed with this book and I still am. I was so bored I found myself skimmed for the most of the book and I really hated it happened. I tried to like it but I failed. I liked the characters and I tried to like the idea of Ash and Josie but it didn't work. My brain, my heart just refused to register them as lovers. I didn't feel this chemistry sparks between them. It was dull, you know. It's like they just don't fit together. Besides, the story is too similar with Jace and Beth's so there, my interest just gone poof.

Not forget to mention, I liked the idea of alpha, possessive and obsessive man but the dominant, submissive thing, I cringed. Oh lord so help me when am I going to pass on that and be over it. There's no one but myself to blame because I read one particular billionaire and he mindfucked my brain and the idea of bdsm.

Despite all that I've mentioned above, I have to admit that I really loved the very first chapter in this book. It's how Ash and Josie met. It was so beautiful. Since it happened through Ash's view, the way he projected the vision to my imagination of looking at Josie, it made me adored Josie just like he adored her too. That experience alone, it was absolutely amazing. Sigh...

Another thing that got me intrigued was Brittany and Kai. They are secondary characters in this book and yet they captured my utmost attention. Although it happened so fast and briefly, Brittany and Kai showed me this intense, hot attraction occurred between them. I already liked Brittany and I certainly liked this mysterious Kai and I'm seriously curious about them that I hope, truly hope Ms. Banks would write their book. Pretty pleaseee

Overall, this book earned 3 stars from me because I loved the first chapter, I liked the main characters, individually, and I liked the part where Kai and Brittany's concern. The rest... meh.

Well, there goes the Breathless series. I am saddened it's ended. Quite a journey, I must say. Anyway, there is no way I will stop reading Ms. Banks' books. I love her work, I love her writing and I'm looking forward to read her other books!

Read on your own peril.
