the little bookish

I fancy reading, good books and hot tea.

The Viper - Monica McCarty

My next pick in book jar is this book. I'm actually happy because finally I've got to read something I'm familiar with the writing. I love Monica McCarty's writings and I bet I'm going to enjoy this a bit more than I enjoyed the last read.

Act Like You Love Me - Cindi Madsen

Act Like You Love Me by Cindi Madsen is a partially okay read. Actually, this book made me rolled my eyes a lot during entire reading. Brynn had insecurities during high school and she still has them although she toned it down and they were being weird and a nerd. Which is total opposite being cool. Of course, according to Brynn because this is a part of where I want to just smack her head.

Seriously, what is wrong being weird and nerd? I love being weird and nerd. In fact, I embrace it because you got to be yourself. High school is a tough place yes been there done that but if you allow those people to prick you mentally, I'm sorry to say but good luck because it'll haunt you forever. Ohhh that's you Brynn!

This book got lucky I didn't gave it up entirely although I did some skimming because I hated reading Brynn's pathetic thoughts. However, I enjoyed reading their romance. Surprisingly, the hero and heroine had a great chemistry between them. I liked the setting where there's the lake house. Just imagine such a place and it gives a peace vibe, sigh.

Don't know if I wish to grab the next in the series. Definitely not wish to read another annoying heroine. Read on your own peril.

Act Like You Love Me - Cindi Madsen

Paper strip coming out of book jar suggests me to read this book. My last read of Cindi Madsen wasn't good. I hope this one turns out much better.

Love Letters to the Dead - Ava Dellaira

Love Letters to the Dead by Ava Dellaira is not love letters after all. I picked this book because I liked the idea of writing letters to the dead. Such book I always shelve it in Unique.

Too bad though it gave quite a good concept but failed in the story. It was a torture experience reading those 30% of letters and it felt like endless drama llama before I decided to quit. Her thoughts, her actions were not to my liking. It's annoying mostly.

You see, I wanted to like it like most readers out there. Well, I just can't. Read on your own peril.

Desire Untamed: A Feral Warriors Novel

Desire Untamed - Pamela Palmer DNF @ 30%

I gave up. This book bores the hell out of me. Bye.

Seduced by the Vampire King (Vampire Warrior Kings, #2)

Seduced by the Vampire King (Vampire Warrior Kings, #2) - Laura Kaye 2 stars

One word: terrible. Just as I predicted and I managed to finish it in the end because it was quick, short read. It was perfect to boost my slowly waning reading mojo.

This Man (This Man, #1)

This Man (This Man, #1) - Jodi Ellen Malpas DNF @ 10%

I tried. Even it was a torture to get past the first few chapters before I gave up completely. Clearly it wasn't for me.

The reasons.
1. The book was written in first person present tense. One of my pet peeves!
2. I was annoyed by Ava's monologue.
3. Boring too.
4. Their first meeting made me rolled my eyes because it reminded me of one particular book I read a long, long time ago.
5. During their first meeting too, I didn't feel any sort of love sparks between Ava and Jesse.

To a friend who recommended me this, I'm so sorry I didn't enjoy this the way you did!

Slade (New Species, Book Two)

Slade - Laurann Dohner 3 stars

Loved the action scenes. Liked Slade at the first because he is funny but slowly unimpressed when it became overloaded. Trisha is smart and intelligent yet act anything but. Reading no action scenes was pure torture. The romance was dull. Couldn't feel their connection too. And the last two chapters were such waste of my time. Hope next book is much better than this.

Read on your own peril.

In the Service of the King (Vampire Warrior Kings, #1)

In the Service of the King (Vampire Warrior Kings, #1) - Laura Kaye 2 stars

Typical insta-love with nothing much happened and it was a quick read. The book has potential though because it was quite good if it weren't for the length.

Read on your own peril.

Falling For Her Fiance (Accidentally in Love)

Falling For Her Fiance - Cindi Madsen 3 stars

Liked.
1. Funny conversations.
2. Wes' nice family.

Disliked.
1. No significant chemistry between Wes and Dani. They felt way more like best friends rather than romantically to each other.
2. Grew tired with their stubbornness.

Anyway, it was a good read with cheesy ending. Read on your own peril.

A Baby for Easter

A Baby for Easter - Noelle Adams 5 stars

Such a heartwarming, sweet, and wonderful story. Broken Micah, damaged Alice and in the end, they found what they looked after in one another. Besides, Cara is such an adorable cutie little sweetheart. I'm sucker for babies. Anyway, the series is getting much better and I'm liking it. I can't wait for the next installment upcoming soon!

Highly recommended.

Blank Slate

Blank Slate - Tiffany Snow Interesting, interesting blurb!

The Rancher's Second Chance (Entangled Indulgence)

The Rancher's Second Chance - Victoria James 4 stars

Cowboys, me like-y. However, it's the words "second chance" had me picked and read the book.

It was quick and warm read. The romance was sweet. The plot tugged your emotions. Both main characters are damaged souls. Cole lost his wife and afraid to love again. Melanie just got herself away from abusive father and longed for love. Quiet opposites, the duo. But quote the famous sayings: Opposite attracts.

Anyway, I enjoyed the book and I hope Gage has his own book. He's quite a mystery and I want to learn about him. I also I think I can guess who will be his other half. Can't wait!

Recommended.

To the Edge (The Bodyguards)

To the Edge (Bodyguard, #1) - Cindy Gerard DNF @ 9%
Rolled my eyes A LOT.

She's angry she throw tantrums to daddy dearest over the phone.
She's angry she didn't get what she wants she throws her phone across the room.
She's angry she just went ahead punch an innocent, she-just-met guy in the face.

Seriously, are those necessary? Is this heroine mental or something? And 30+ year-old definitely doesn't act like that. Also she dislikes the guy thinks she's a bimbo oh well news flash missy you're one when you're giving off impression to him like that. AND to me too.

I don't mind reading strong female character. In fact, I love it because I don't like reading spineless lady. But this one, this one isn't headstrong. She's more of a spoilt rich kid trapped in a body of 30s.

Awful start for first read by C.G. I'm sorry but not sorry because this book just wasn't for me. Better off to read other fantastic romance suspense books with mature characters, both physically and mentality.

Read on your own peril.
Read the news from author's FB page, it's Nick's! YAY. Imma happy girl. Very happy girl.

Release Date: Summer. (That'll be a long wait. Hm.)
