Scandalous Desires (Maiden Lane)

Scandalous Desires - Elizabeth Hoyt It is Silence and Mick's story. It felt good to finally grab and read the book. I had waited for this book for so long. In addition of being tempted by their minor stories in two previous books, it was so hard! Anyway, the story was interesting and intriguing. Fun, indeed and hell yeah, I loved it.

To those who read this series from the start, I may as well say that we knew exactly Silence and Mick's first met. It involved with Mick stole Silence's husband's ship and Silence confronted with Mick all on her own, for her love to her husband, William, in hope Mick would agree to return the ship in which, he did but in return, Silence did what he requested. A request that marred and ruined Silence's life and reputation, forever.

And to tell the worst, nobody believed Silence even she told the truth. No one, not her family, and not even her husband. She got hurt so badly. Emotionally, not physically anyway. Then, Mary Darling came into her life. From the day Mary Darling was kidnapped from Silence, everything changed and once again, Silence met Mick O'Connor.

I extremely enjoyed Silence in this premise. She is kinda funny. All she did to make me laugh was being rebelled to Mick, the most well-known river pirate. She is stubborn and brave too. She has no fear at all towards Mickey no matter how the man tried to intimidate her. Well, his efforts failed miserably. Yeah, major epic fail. The best thing of all about Silence, she is really fond with Mary Darling. She will do anything, everything, and even willingly to sacrifice her life in order to keep Mary Darling safe, keep the child away from harm and threat.

As for Mick, well he's Mick. He's scary, ruthless, and he has no mercy at all. He has dark past. A past that made him a river pirate in present. Plus, his unfinished business and problem with his ruthless father. It was nightmare. Apart from him being a ruthless river pirate, Mickey has a soft part and it drew Silence closer. It made Silence interested with him, attracted to him, wished and wanted to get to know more about him, and she eventually fell in love with him.

Ah, I really enjoyed their romance. I loved them too but, I loved Mary Darling more. Let me tell you why. she's adorable and cute, okay? She is indeed darling! So darling I wished I could get into the book and pinched chubby cheeks of her. The fact that she's Mickey's daughter made things hell more lot interesting.

I liked she called her father "Bad" for the first time the two met. I liked she poked her father's chin for being curious. My love for her and her father bloomed when Mick held Mary Darling in his arms and sang a song to her. Ah, so heart-warming. Seriously, reading about a man who holds his child in his arms, the experience was awesome. It made me awed for a long while.

Oh, in this book, I finally found out who is this mysterious Ghost of St. Giles and I can't wait to discover about him more. Well, that would be in Book 4. Wouldn't miss the world for it. Read the series already if you haven't.
