Fifty Shades of Grey

Fifty Shades of Grey - E.L. James Re-read, UPDATED review Apr 5, 2013

2½ stars

I did some quick re-read on this book. Only this time, I heightened up the inner alert to notice some of things. I looked way past Christian being sexy and all and Anna's being plain and innocent.

I liked the connection that they have between them because it is indeed, strong. In fact, if there were no annoying, disturbing parts of Christian's doings, he's actually a vulnerable man who is scared to feel and afraid to love. And in the deepest depth of his heart, he is actually a soft-hearted one. Only if he could walk past his fear, be strong and brave without the need to control, he could be an ideal man that the girls would go smitten for.

A year ago, I was really new to reading heavy BDSM and I found it was interesting. And I wanted to know. Curiosity had gotten me to continue until I finished it. I liked it for the first experience but somehow, I found myself skimming because I couldn't handle it. Even on my re-read, I did do skimming too. And this time, instead of excited wanting to know something new, I was scared like shit. I am still marvel at myself of how I could do it.

Admittedly, I read this because of Christian. Like I mentioned above, if he were a different man from this Christian Grey, I might like him even more. As for Anna, I didn't like her. I don't even like her on my re-read. She's just spineless and weak. Her thoughts which I found exceedingly annoying, I was exasperated and wished for her to grow up, act like an adult and be one.
