It's a story about two people who fall in love with each other but they knew they couldn't have each other.

Despite their love, desires and needs - the family, clan and their safety were above all, Alaric is a man with his words and he would seal the alliances by marrying Rionna. Keeley's devotion to her new clan, she sacrificed her wants and let another woman to have the man she loved.

It was excruciating to read their moments together, afraid the day passed very soon, as they would cherish it as long as they could before they would say goodbye. It was extremely madness at the near end of the book I nearly shed tears. I didn't know what to expect and so I was expecting the worst.

But then, I was glad things weren't exactly what I thought.

P.S. Alaric and Keeley may a tortured-soul couple but I find the most tortured amongst characters in this series is Rionna McDonald.

High recommended.
