The Darkest Whisper (Lords of the Underworld)
Fourth book of LOTU series! This time the main characters are Sabin who possessed by demon of Doubt and a half-harpy, half-demon, Gwen. 4-star is given to this book because I liked the plot very much. One thing that turned me down is that there’s only slight spark between Sabin and Gwen. The duo aren’t like other couples. I tried to love these two being together but failed so. I just felt these two are weird being together. That’s what I thought. The rest of characters are great too! I always liked Anya (Goddess of Anarchy) and in this book, what she did to Galen is amazing. I liked what she did. However, I felt bad for Paris, Gideon and Amun. As for Paris (Promiscuity), he’s still grieving upon the death of Sienna. He’s so sad and wrecked. Oh, how much he loved her but his loyalty, his love towards his friends, he rather to lose her forever than losing his friends. As for Gideon (Lies), he thinks he’s useless and it must be hell for him because he’s unable to tell the truth. If he did so, the consequence would be really, really bad. As for Amun (Secret), he has all secrets filled in his head and he tried (and always) his best to not speak of it. That must be awful then but, when he utters those secrets, he just couldn’t stop himself. That’s just horrible. However, I was glad he projected Darla’s voice and her secrets. I was happy now Stefano heard of it. The bastard deserved to know he was actually neglected his late wife.
There is one and only part that truly pissed me off. It’s Gwen. The warriors have fight all their might to save their friends and their friends’ females from Hunters, and all merely wish and want to retrieve peace. And Gwen, yes that very Gwen, Sabin’s woman, she did something, utterly, really stupid. She’s great! I liked her. She’s stronger and dangerous even. I liked her for that but I really hate her now because she’s such an oxymoron. Why did she do that!? I was practically punching the book. It was so infuriating! Sometimes, I have to remind myself this is all work of fiction. I must not lose myself. LOL.
Anyway, it was great reading and things are getting interesting now. Looking forward for the next sequel!
